Good times....

The baby loves spoons, bowls and playing in his own spit-up. He's a cheap date. He also thinks 'chase the baby' should go on for hours, even though probably half the time he forgets to run away and just laughs.

We tried for a picture with Santa (we'll scan the end results soon.), it didn't go well. at all. He screamed as soon as he saw Santa. We tried pretty hard. Alan jiggled the baby until he laughed, actually ran through the picture and tossed the baby on Santa's lap hoping to get a picture before he figured out where he was. We got the picture as he figured it out, oh well.

Holy smokes!

We have gone from wobbly tottering to cruising distant corners of the house in just days! Ezra spent a few days sort of crawling/rolling from place to place. He was overcorrecting with his hips and accidentally log rolling more often than not. Now he's up and moving before you can blink! (as a matter of fact, there he goes now...) We've already had to move Ned's food and water. The water bowl is a source of endless entertainment. For now the bowls are just around the corner, but I imagine I'll have to move them again in a few days. I'm desperately trying to convince him to stay on the carpet, within arms reach, it's not really working.... So far I've found him in Ned's water, under the coffee table, sucking on the first step of the stairs, climbing over the roller of Alan's stationary bike, under the coffee table, chewing on every power cord we have, headed towards the dead flies in the laundry room, under the coffee table.... I don't know what I'll do when he discovers the floor to ceiling blinds at the other end of the house! Right now I have him occupied chasing an empty baby bottle around the floor.

He's decided that naps are for sissies and the beloved exersaucer is his enemy. I'm lucky if he naps for 45 minutes. (he just found his slotted spoon...we're never buying toys again, we're just going to clean out our cabinets.)

What am I going to do when he can walk?

Low Quality Video of Ezra a 6 months

Halloween Blue Eyes

So here is Ezra's Halloween costume. It just doesn't seem right that it was 70 degrees and sunny on Halloween. This picture was taken on the front wall of our house's property. Pretty nice, eh?

And still, Ezra has brilliant baby blue eyes. It looks like there are lights behind them. I'm not sure how they ended up that color, but I"m pretty sure they are a closer match to Riley and John than Rachel and Alan.

lazy lazy lazy

Wow. Alan and I are super lazy bloggers! We'll try to be better....

Ezra is sitting up like a professional sitter-upper. Just in the last few days he's discovered that toys aren't just for chewing on, now they're for banging! Or throwing, whatever. He absolutely loves the excersaucer from Auntie Renee. (Mom loves it too, the kitchen at least has a chance now.)

For the last few weeks he's been rolling and wiggling where he wants to go. I keep putting him down in one place and finding him across the room. For a baby who wasn't crawling he really gets around!

And then came the crawling. He's pushing up on all fours, tottering and pushing forward for a few scoots. Of course then comes the face-plant, but he's getting the hang of it.

More later, promise.

Traveling in S.D.

Ezra has begun to fill up his National Park passport. The first stamp came at Devil's Tower in Montana. He took the 1.3 mile walk around the entire tower.

The second stamp in Ezra's passport came at Mount Rushmore. Mom and Dad took Ezra around the walking trail (lots of steps) in a new sling made by Grandma Walker.

The third stamp is from Badlands National park. Here, Ezra is wearing the sun hat that Grandma Landers bought him.

not efficient.

here are the pictures I didn't get in for the last post....

Trains

Ugh. I just lost a long post. Imagine something witty and sentimental regarding train travel. The short version: very comfy, lots of room to move about, excellent scenery, icky food. We strongly recomend trains.

Born in the USA!

The trip back home was an adventure! We had very few problems, except getting used to American service again.

Now that we're back in the U.S.A., mom, grandma, dad, and I have been doing some shopping - getting stuff they don't carry in the commissary or BX.

We went to Target and got some pictures taken today...we'll post some more when they come back from the photographer.

I have been going on walks on the Monon trail, and have learned to enjoy my newest toy - a rattle. I can grab it, and shake it - and there is no dog to steal it from me.

Dad's on leave.

So now that dad is on two and a half months of leave, Ezra has been spending more time sleeping with two people (and a dog) instead of just one.
Also, we've been going walking on the typical summer "Chamber of Commerce" days. Ezra has become better at following people, dogs, and stuffed animals with his eyes.
After all that work, I am ready for another nap.

Ezra Says...

I'm putting myself up for sale. This family isn't working out for me. They insist on changing my clothes when I'm covered in vomit. And today Momma dropped me. Sort of. She fell holding me. I'm fine, she's fine (a little scraped up...so's dad for that matter). But come on! First that dog and now this. Anyway if you're looking for a baby, I've recently developed the *action pincer-grip* in my left hand, I have giant blue eyes, a button nose and a goofy smile. My rates are reasonable, I'll even consider a 'rent to own' situation.

Portuguese lessons

Ezra and Ned's favorite housekeeper has been teaching us Portuguese. So far we have learned: Cao (pronounced cou)= dog, Gato (gatoo) = cat, Maluca (maloocu) = crazy, but cute (Guida can't remember Ned's name and just uses Maluca. Guida loves Ned. She shares her lunch with her. And when she fills Ned's bowl, she also puts a dog treat on top of the food. More crazy then cute today, Ned broke into the trash, ate rotten pasta salad and yakked it up all over Guida's freshly mopped floor. Ezra is a Menino (meninoo), little boy.

Guida remains very concerned that I don't wear shoes around the house. She's insistent that it will make me less attractive for my husband some how. (I also heard her muttering "oh baby.... Mama forgot to close the door, so bad.... In my defense it's a warm day.)

Sad Ned

Ned has had a few unfortunate run-ins with a screen door. She's now convinced that she can't step across the threshold of the open door without something terrible happening.

Welcome! We're dipping our toes into the blog. Mostly it will be goofy updates about Ezra, but he'll have to share some with Ned too.

Let's begin!
